On Tuesday, 2nd July 2019, UIB held an orientation to officially start the Indonesian Language for Foreigners program or Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA Program). This orientation was attended by 3 lecturers and 4 students from National Taichung University of Science and Technology (NTCUST), as well as UIB IRO staffs. Orientation was started with the MC’s greeting and followed by a speech from Professor Liu, Wen-Jung.
This BIPA program will last for a month, with study materials such as Listening and Speaking, Reading and Writing, as well as Custom and Culture.
Professor Liu, Wen-Jung as Chief of European and Asian Language Division of National Taichung University of Science and Technology (NTCUST) shared in his opening speech that he is pleased NTCUST was able to participate in this program. He hoped the students would be able to learn a lot in this program, not only Bahasa Indonesia but also the many cultures of Indonesia. “I hope that NTCUST and UIB can continue to do this program in the future,” remarked Professor Liu, Wen-Jung.
Professor Liu, Wen-Jung and the lecturers from NTCUST is visiting Batam for three days to monitor the process of the program and to meet colleagues in UIB to discuss the possibility to work together and of collaborations with UIB in the future.
The orientation was then followed by introduction to UIB, UIB’s code of conduct, and the students study schedule. The orientation was ended with the gifting of souvenir by the head of IRO and photo session.
