The Master of Management Program of Universitas Internasional Batam held a Statistics Training activity for S2 Students on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at UIB’s Laboratory that is in Building A number 206-207. This activity aims to improve students’ understanding in processing statistical data for final projects, both in the form of articles and theses.
The event began at 14.00 WIB with opening remarks from representatives of the UIB Master of Management Program, who conveyed the importance of statistical data processing skills in supporting academic research. This training was provided by two expert speakers, namely Mrs. Isnaini Nuzula, S.Si., M.M. and Dr. Lily Purwianti, S.E., M.M., who provided comprehensive material.
In the first session, Mrs. Isnaini Nuzula, S.Si., M.M. explained the basics of statistics, data collection techniques, and statistical software applications relevant to management research. This session focused on the introduction of various statistical methods that can be used in academic research. The second session was continued by Dr. Lily Purwianti, S.E., M.M., who discussed advanced data analysis, including regression techniques, factor analysis, and hypothesis testing. She also provides practical guidance to interpret the results of statistical analysis appropriately in research.
The training was attended by 2nd and 3rd semester Master of Management students, who showed high enthusiasm during the training session. The participants also had the opportunity to do hands-on practice using statistical software, namely the SmartPLS which was guided by the speakers. Dr. Lily Purwianti, S.E., M.M. said, “With this training, we hope that students can be more confident in processing and analyzing data for Management Seminar courses and their theses later.”
The training ended in the evening, 16.00 WIB, with closing remarks spoken by Mrs. Isnaini Nuzula, S.Si., M.M., “Statistical skills are an important foundation for S2 students, especially in supporting quality data processing for academic research.”
This activity is expected to provide statistical skills that are useful for students, both to support the learning process in courses and the completion of final projects.
