Strengthening Global Commitment Through MoU Signing and Community Service Collaboration Between Universitas Internasional Batam and Universiti Teknologi MARA

Universitas Internasional Batam reaffirmed its commitment to global engagement by successfully organizing a Memorandum of Understanding Signing and Community Service program in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia. The activities were conducted over two consecutive days on 9 and 10 October 2025 as part of UIB efforts to expand international partnerships in higher education. This program reflected the university vision of internationalization that integrates academic excellence with meaningful social contribution. Representatives from both institutions actively participated in all sessions, ensuring that the collaboration was substantive and impactful. The initiative was designed not only to formalize institutional cooperation but also to strengthen people to people connections between Indonesia and Malaysia. Through this program, UIB demonstrated its strategic approach to sustainable international collaboration.

The Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony was held on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the Universitas Internasional Batam campus and attended by senior leaders and official representatives from both universities. This ceremony marked an important milestone in formalizing academic cooperation between UIB and Universiti Teknologi MARA. The agreement established a framework for future collaboration in education research student and staff mobility and joint academic programs. During the ceremony, both parties expressed strong commitment to fostering long term partnerships that support institutional development. The MoU signing served as a foundation for expanding collaboration into practical and mutually beneficial initiatives. The atmosphere of the event reflected shared values and a common vision for international academic growth.

Following the MoU signing, the collaboration continued with the organization of an International Student Colloquium involving participants from both institutions. The colloquium provided a platform for students to present academic work exchange ideas and engage in scholarly discussions within an international academic environment. This session encouraged cross cultural learning and enhanced students global perspectives. The presentations demonstrated the academic capacity and critical thinking skills of participating students. Faculty members from both universities facilitated discussions and provided constructive feedback. The colloquium strengthened academic ties and highlighted the importance of student centered international engagement.

As a continuation of the academic agenda, a Community Service activity was conducted on Friday, 10 October 2025, at Sanggar Belajar Tembesi Sidomulyo. This activity focused on English language learning for children through interactive teaching methods and educational games. Participants from both universities collaborated in delivering lessons designed to be engaging and accessible for young learners. The activity aimed to improve basic English communication skills while fostering confidence and motivation among the children. The community service program reflected the shared commitment of both institutions to social responsibility. It also provided participants with valuable experience in applying academic knowledge to real world community contexts.

The Community Service activity was warmly welcomed by the children and organizers of Sanggar Belajar Tembesi. The interactive sessions created a positive and enjoyable learning atmosphere that encouraged active participation. Beyond educational outcomes, the program strengthened social bonds between the university representatives and the local community. Participants gained deeper understanding of community needs while promoting cultural exchange and mutual respect. This activity demonstrated that international collaboration can generate direct benefits for society. It also reinforced the role of higher education institutions in contributing to community development.

The entire program was coordinated by the International Relations Office of Universitas Internasional Batam under the leadership of Theodesia Lady Pratiwi S Pd M Hum as the Chairperson and Person in Charge of the activity. Strong institutional support was provided by UIB leadership including the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation. Careful planning and coordination ensured that all activities were implemented smoothly and in accordance with the program objectives. The collaboration between organizing teams from both universities contributed significantly to the success of the events. Effective communication and teamwork played a key role in achieving the intended outcomes. The program demonstrated UIB capacity to manage international activities professionally.

Overall, the MoU Signing and Community Service collaboration between Universitas Internasional Batam and Universiti Teknologi MARA was successfully implemented without significant obstacles. The program achieved its objectives of strengthening institutional cooperation and delivering meaningful community impact. It also laid a strong foundation for future collaborative initiatives between the two universities. This activity stands as a concrete example of effective international partnership in higher education.
