Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB), through its International Relations Office (IRO), successfully organized the second series of its flagship international program, IROTALK, titled “Diverse Destinations, Unified Vision: The Reality of Student Exchange and Fast Track”. The event was conducted as a live online session on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, utilizing both Zoom Meeting and YouTube Live Streaming platforms. IROTALK Series II was designed as a podcast-style discussion that emphasizes open dialogue and authentic storytelling from students who have experienced international academic programs. This program followed the successful implementation of IROTALK Series I held in the previous year. The event attracted significant attention from UIB students and the wider academic community. Its implementation reflects UIB’s consistent commitment to strengthening international exposure and student global mobility.

The primary objective of IROTALK Series II was to provide students with honest, experience-based insights into Student Exchange and Fast Track programs. Unlike conventional seminars, this session aimed to present real challenges, personal growth stories, and academic realities that students often do not encounter through promotional materials. The International Relations Office initiated this program to help students better prepare themselves mentally, academically, and culturally before participating in overseas programs. Through open conversations, IROTALK seeks to reduce uncertainty and misconceptions surrounding international study experiences. The program also serves as an educational platform to inspire students to explore global opportunities with proper preparation. By presenting real student narratives, UIB ensures that internationalization efforts remain transparent and student-centered.

IROTALK Series II featured three UIB students who had previously participated in international programs across Malaysia and Taiwan. Yowina Trisannia, a student from the English Language Education Study Program, shared her experience as a Student Exchange participant at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Winny Angelina Liangdra, from the Management Study Program, presented her journey through the 3+2 Fast Track Program at Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan. Meanwhile, Jevin Lyzabeth, representing the Civil Engineering Study Program, discussed her academic and cultural experiences during her Student Exchange at the National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Each speaker provided unique perspectives shaped by different academic disciplines and host institutions. Their participation enriched the discussion by offering diverse viewpoints on studying abroad.

The session was conducted using a podcast-style discussion format, allowing for a relaxed yet in-depth exploration of each speaker’s experience. The discussion was moderated by Duke Paopathon Pardede, a representative from UIB’s International Relations Office, who acted as the host. His interactive questioning style encouraged the speakers to share not only achievements but also struggles and unexpected challenges encountered during their programs. This format created a conversational atmosphere that resonated strongly with the audience. Participants were able to engage directly through a live question-and-answer segment. The podcast approach successfully bridged the gap between formal academic discussion and relatable student storytelling.

IROTALK Series II achieved a significant milestone by attracting approximately 120 live viewers across Zoom and YouTube platforms. The strong attendance demonstrated high interest among UIB students in international academic opportunities. Audience engagement was particularly evident during the interactive question-and-answer session, where participants actively sought clarification and advice from the speakers. Feedback from attendees indicated that the session was informative, relatable, and motivating. The lively interaction confirmed the effectiveness of the podcast-style format in delivering complex information in an accessible manner. This positive response reinforces the relevance of IROTALK as a key international outreach program at UIB.

The successful implementation of IROTALK Series II further strengthens UIB’s role in promoting global education and international collaboration. Through this program, the International Relations Office continues to provide inclusive platforms that prepare students for global academic engagement. IROTALK serves not only as an informational session but also as a strategic tool to cultivate internationally minded graduates. The program aligns with UIB’s broader vision of internationalization and student mobility. By continuously improving and expanding such initiatives, UIB ensures that students are well-equipped to navigate global academic environments. The success of this session paves the way for future IROTALK series with broader reach and deeper impact.
