UIB Center of Language and Culture
UIB Center of Language and Culture is a technical implementation unit in the field of language learning and service development. The head of UCLC is coordinated by the Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs. UCLC has the function of carrying out learning development, language skills improvement and language proficiency testing services. UCLC organizes both regular learning activities and non-regular learning activities in the form of training and courses in the UIB environment. The language development activities at UIB are carried out using UIB internal budget and budget from external parties. Some of the activities organized under the Program include:
1. Teaching English 1 and English 2 intended for UIB students in semester 1 and semester 2.
2. General English (GE) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) training for UIB internal and external both for academicians and professionals in the industry.
3. English tests including TOEFL IBT, TOEFL ITP, TOEIC, and IELTS.
4. English Workshop aims to improve the quality of English language teaching and the development of course curriculum and English training syllabus.
5. Teaching and developing Indonesian language teacher certification for Foreign Speakers (BIPA)
6. Translation and Translation Training
7. Cross-cultural activities.
The presence of UCLC is not only for the academic needs of UIB Civitas Academica but also for the public, especially in the Riau Islands Province. As the foremost region of the Republic of Indonesia, UCLC has a strategic role to improve the ability of human resources, especially in the field of language. From the cultural side, the presence of UCLC has become an instrument of introducing Indonesian language and culture for UIB partners and the international community in general.

As a supporting system institution of UIB as an international standard university through language and cultural services.
MISSION
1.Initiating cooperation in the field of language and culture with various strategic institutions to support the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education.
2. Be active in collaboration activities both as activity initiators, activity planners, facilitators, and committees.
3. Organizing language services for UIB Civitas Academica and the public to improve language skills and language services.
AIM
1. Improving the English language skills of UIB Civitas Academica through learning and training.
2. Increasing the role of Indonesian learning for foreign speakers.
3. Improving English and Indonesian language test services for UIB Civitas Academica and the public.
TARGET
1. Improving the English language skills of UIB Civitas Academica up to basic working proficiency.
2. Increasing the number of participants in English and Indonesian training.
3.Increasing the number of English language test participation.
Mandarin Center
Mandarin center is a unit under the UCLC Bureau, which acts as an international center for Mandarin Paper Test and Online-Based Tests, as a center for Mandarin teacher training and the development of Chinese culture, and as a center for learning Mandarin.
VISSION
The UIB Language and Culture Center (UCLC) aims to become an excellent center for language service in the Riau Islands Province.
MISSION
1. To provide national and foreign language training.
2. To learn languages and language instructions.
3. To disseminate information and publications about language studies and language teaching.
4. Improving the quality of teaching and learning continuously.
5. Expanding networks with other institutions at national and international levels.
Main Task
1. Formulating strategies and setting plans for developing English / Mandarin training;
2. Developing a strategy to improve the quality of English / Mandarin training;
3. Implementing and developing a monitoring and evaluation system related to the implementation of training activities and English test centers
4. Making periodic reports
