From December 2 to December 5, 2024, Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) had the privilege of hosting a delegation of 13 high school principals and representatives from seven prestigious schools in Thailand, including Bumrungsuksa School, Jariyahtamsuksa School, Pattanasart School, Issalamwittaya Bungnanrak Bangkok School, Chiangmai School, Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School, and Somboonsart School.
The Open House program was a dynamic platform designed to explore potential collaborations between UIB and these esteemed institutions. During the event, the delegation engaged in a series of productive meetings with representatives from all UIB faculties, represented by either the Deans or Heads of Faculty. These discussions focused on evaluating opportunities for collaboration at the program level as well as broader institutional partnerships, fostering the possibility of enriching academic ties and mutual growth.
Dr. Hepy Hefri Ariyanto, the Vice Rector said, “Our Heads of Faculty kept asking me, ‘Where are the international students for our program?’ It was their way of joking but also expressing how warmly we welcome and value international partnerships like this.” His comment underscored UIB’s enthusiasm and readiness to embrace global educational collaborations while making the delegates feel appreciated and welcomed.
The delegation also attended UIB’s 20th Graduation Ceremony as VIP guests, a significant milestone for the university, adding a celebratory and meaningful aspect to their visit. Additionally, a Gala Dinner was held in their honor, showcasing the warm hospitality and cultural richness of Batam while providing a space for informal networking and deeper connections.
This Open House event underscored UIB’s commitment to bridging global educational opportunities and cultivating meaningful partnerships. The positive outcomes from this engagement reflect a promising future for academic collaborations that transcend borders, strengthening ties between Indonesia and Thailand through education.
