Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) continues to strengthen its commitment to developing international collaborations in various academic and research fields. On February 5, 2025, UIB welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Maritime Engineering Technology (FTKK), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), as part of the International Collaboration Tour Program in the Riau Islands, Indonesia.
The visit aimed to exchange knowledge, explore potential academic and research collaborations, and discuss partnership opportunities in maritime engineering and technology. The UMT delegation consisted of five members, including Professor Ir. Dr. Mohammad Fadhli bin Ahmad (Dean of FTKK UMT) and Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Ahmad Nazri bin Dagang (Vice Dean for Talent and Research FTKK UMT), along with two postgraduate students.
During the meeting, discussions were productive, covering various collaboration opportunities such as student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and curriculum development focusing on technology and innovation. One of the key outcomes of this visit was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics UMT and the Faculty of Computer Sciences UIB. The LoI, signed by the respective Deans, marks the beginning of a strong academic partnership between the two institutions.
“The signing of this Letter of Intent (LoI) is an important step in building an academic partnership between UIB and UMT. We are optimistic that this collaboration will result in innovative programs that benefit both students and faculty members from both universities,” said Dr. Hendi Sama as the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences at UIB.
As a symbol of cooperation and appreciation, the event concluded with an exchange of plaques between UMT and UIB, signifying the growing relationship between the two institutions. Through this collaboration, both universities aim to further expand their international networks, enhance research collaborations, and develop innovative academic programs with a global impact.
