On September 24, 2025, students and faculty members from Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) and Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), Philippines, came together at Pantai Bahagia, Nongsa, Batam for an inspiring Coastal Care and Community Service activity under the theme “Beyond Borders.” This initiative was part of the broader UIB x CSPC Visiting Lecturer and Community Service Program, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, sustainability, and cross-cultural friendship. The morning event brought together participants from both institutions to care for the environment while strengthening international bonds through teamwork and shared experiences.
The activity began with a collective beach clean-up, where UIB and CSPC participants enthusiastically worked side by side to remove litter, plastics, and debris along the shoreline. Under the warm morning sun, students and lecturers alike demonstrated strong teamwork, filling bags with waste and restoring the natural beauty of Pantai Bahagia. The clean-up was not just a physical effort but a symbolic act of responsibility toward environmental preservation. Through this activity, participants learned the value of collaboration beyond the classroom, highlighting how education can inspire real-world impact for sustainability and community well-being.
After completing the clean-up, the spirit of joy and togetherness continued through a series of interactive cultural games that brought everyone closer. UIB students led two games that encouraged teamwork and creativity, sparking laughter and friendly competition among the participants. CSPC representatives then introduced a Filipino language game, inviting everyone to learn simple words and phrases in Filipino. The atmosphere was filled with cheerful energy as participants tried out new expressions, shared jokes, and celebrated each other’s cultures. These games became more than just entertainment; they embodied the essence of Beyond Borders, where collaboration and friendship transcend nationality and language.
Throughout the day, the connection between the UIB buddies and CSPC students grew stronger. They supported each other, shared meals, and exchanged stories about life, studies, and culture. Many CSPC participants expressed their heartfelt emotions, saying they did not want the day to end because of the genuine friendships they had formed. Laughter echoed across the beach as both groups reflected on the unforgettable memories they created together. For many, the event became a moment of realization that international partnerships are not only about research or academic exchange but also about empathy, unity, and understanding among people from different worlds.
Reflecting on the program’s success, Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Hum., Head of UIB’s International Relations Office (IRO), expressed her appreciation for the shared enthusiasm and collaboration between both institutions.
“The theme ‘Beyond Borders’ truly came to life today,” she said. “What we witnessed was not only a community service activity but also the building of strong friendships that go beyond culture and geography. This is what international collaboration is truly about — learning together, caring for the world, and celebrating humanity.”
The Coastal Care and Community Service at Pantai Bahagia marked one of the most heartwarming highlights of the UIB x CSPC partnership. It showcased how education, environmental action, and friendship can merge into one meaningful experience. As the sun set over the shores of Nongsa, participants left not only with a cleaner beach but also with fuller hearts and stronger connections. The spirit of Beyond Borders continues to live on, symbolizing UIB’s and CSPC’s shared commitment to shaping a better and more compassionate global community.
