On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB), through its International Relations Office (IRO), hosted a vibrant cultural exchange event titled “Intercultural Learning: Stories, Traditions, and Perspectives” in collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore. The event was held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Auditorium, Building B, 2nd Floor, UIB, and was attended by 30 students and 2 staff members from Temasek Polytechnic along with selected UIB students.
The primary aim of the event was to strengthen academic and cultural ties between the two institutions, while providing students with an enriching opportunity to engage in intercultural dialogue and global learning. The event was officially opened by Ms. Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Hum, Head of UIB’s International Relations Office, followed by welcoming remarks from a faculty representative of Temasek Polytechnic.
The program featured a series of student-led presentations by UIB participants, highlighting diverse aspects of Indonesian culture such as education, tourism, and folklore. These presentations were followed by interactive discussions between students of both institutions, allowing them to share insights, compare traditions, and explore one another’s cultural values in a friendly and respectful setting.
Throughout the event, the atmosphere remained warm, collaborative, and engaging. Students actively participated in both the presentations and open discussions, showing high levels of enthusiasm and curiosity. The event also included informal networking opportunities where students could connect personally, share experiences, and build lasting international friendships.
Overall, the event proceeded smoothly and received highly positive feedback from participants. It not only enhanced intercultural understanding but also reaffirmed UIB’s dedication to advancing global perspectives within its academic environment.
