On April 27, 2025, students and lecturers from Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) embarked on a four-day international academic trip to Malaysia as part of the Education Meets Exploration: Bridging Knowledge and Community program. Held from April 27 to 30, 2025, the initiative was designed to combine academic enrichment, community service, and cultural exploration in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
The UIB delegation consisted of 22 students and 8 lecturers, including Dr. Wisnu Yuwono, Dr. Hesniati, Dr. Johny Budiman, Dr. Antony Sentoso, Dr. Golan Hasan, Dr. Dewi Khornida Marheni, Andina Fasha, and Theodesia Lady Pratiwi. Each played a vital role in the success of the program. Several faculty members served as visiting lecturers, delivering insightful topics such as Innovation Management (Dr. Wisnu Yuwono), Financial Market and Institutions (Dr. Hesniati), Financial Management (Dr. Johny Budiman), Human Resource Management (Dr. Antony Sentoso), and Sports and Leisure in Marketing (Dr. Golan Hasan). These sessions, conducted jointly with UTM faculty, encouraged dialogue and fostered mutual understanding between students of both institutions.
In addition to academic sessions, community service (PKM) activities were coordinated by Dr. Dewi Khornida Marheni and Andina Fasha, while the overall program logistics and coordination were managed by Theodesia Lady Pratiwi.
Participants also explored several cultural landmarks including Taman Iskandar, Johor Premium Outlet, and historical sites in Melaka such as Christ Church, Fort Formosa, and the Melaka River. These excursions provided students with a deeper appreciation for Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
Sharing her thoughts, Tiara Catherina Inggamer, a student participant, said: “This program gave me the chance to meet new friends and expand my network, not only with UTM students but also with fellow UIB students. It truly strengthened our teamwork despite our differences. I hope this kind of program continues in the future and benefits even more students.”
Through this initiative, UIB reaffirms its commitment to providing meaningful international exposure and developing globally minded graduates ready to engage with the world.
