The International University of Batam (UIB) kicked off the 2024 academic year with a vibrant welcome event for its newest international students on August 27, 2024. This year’s diverse cohort includes nine international students—eight from Thailand and one from Ghana—embarking on exciting academic journeys in Tourism, English Education, Accounting, and Information Technology.
The day’s festivities were orchestrated by Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, the dynamic head of the International Relations Office, who led the event with enthusiasm and flair. The warm reception was further enhanced by the presence of the heads of each study program, ensuring that every student received a personal introduction to their new academic home.
The schedule was packed with engaging activities designed to help students feel at ease. The event began with a comprehensive overview of UIB’s campus rules and dorm regulations, setting a clear framework for success. An interactive Q&A session provided an open forum for students to ask questions and address any concerns, fostering a sense of community from the get-go.
One of the highlights of the day was the campus tour, which allowed students to explore key locations and get acquainted with the UIB environment. This practical introduction aimed to ensure that the students would be navigating their new surroundings with confidence and ease.
