On Friday, June 13, 2025, Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), as part of UIB’s ongoing commitment to enhancing academic and research cooperation on a global scale. The meeting took place in person at the Grand Center (GC), UIB, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a focus on exploring potential collaboration between UTM and the Architecture Study Program under the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP) at UIB.
UIB has continuously demonstrated its dedication to international collaboration through a variety of academic initiatives since 2011, including credit transfer programs, academic partnerships such as the 2+2 and 3+2 schemes, and a wide range of cultural and language exchange activities. Since 2017, UIB has also served as one of the host universities for the Darmasiswa Scholarship Program of the Republic of Indonesia, further establishing its role as a strategic partner in international academic networks, particularly in the fields of sustainability, heritage, and intercultural education.
The meeting was conducted in a warm and constructive atmosphere. UTM was represented by three delegates: Dr. Teoh Mei Yee, Dr. Rohana Firdaus, and Dr. Lee Yoke Lai. UIB was represented by Ms. Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Hum (Head of the International Relations Office), Dr. Stivani Ayuning Suwarlan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D (Head of the Architecture Study Program), Ms. Lathifa Nursyamsu, S.Ars., M.Arch. (Secretary of the Architecture Study Program), and Mr. Leonardo (Research Assistant at UIB’s Architecture Program).
Throughout the meeting, both institutions engaged in meaningful discussions on various potential areas of collaboration. Topics included joint research projects, faculty exchange, student mobility programs, and the possibility of dual-degree or credit transfer arrangements. The enthusiasm shown by both parties reflected a shared vision for building a long-term, impactful academic partnership.
The meeting concluded with a group photo session and the exchange of souvenirs and plaques, symbolizing goodwill and mutual appreciation. This visit not only strengthened the institutional relationship between UIB and UTM but also marked a significant step toward future academic collaboration in architecture and other related fields.
