Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) proudly welcomed Dr. Abdul Hamid from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on his first official visit to UIB on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The meeting, held at the Grand Center (GC), Building A, marked a significant milestone in strengthening academic collaboration between UIB and UTHM.
The agenda focused on exploring opportunities for doctoral studies for UIB lecturers at UTHM and the handover of Letters of Acceptance (LoA) to several UIB students who have successfully joined the Mobility Programme at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education, UTHM.
One of the key highlights of this collaboration is the implementation of a Collaborative Learning Programme, where students from both institutions participate in shared online courses. Running from July 28, 2025, to September 21, 2025, this initiative aims to enrich cross-institutional learning experiences, foster international academic networks, and promote knowledge exchange between Indonesia and Malaysia.
From UIB, the meeting was attended by Yusra Aulia Sari, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Head of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Ade Jaya Saputra, S.T., M.Eng., Secretary of the Civil Engineering Study Program, and Maya Marsevani, S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer of English Language Education who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at UTHM. Andina Fasha, S.IP., MM, Head of the Management Study Program, was also present, expressing her plan to pursue her doctoral studies at UTHM. The meeting was coordinated by Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Hum., Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) UIB, who played a central role in facilitating this collaborative effort.
“This collaboration opens up exciting opportunities for our students to experience global learning directly,” said Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Hum., Head of UIB’s International Relations Office. “We are thrilled to welcome UTHM to UIB for the very first time and look forward to exploring more initiatives that strengthen our academic and research partnerships.”
During the session, Dr. Abdul Hamid expressed his appreciation for UIB’s warm welcome and reaffirmed UTHM’s commitment to expanding collaborative initiatives that bring mutual benefits, particularly in research, teaching, and student mobility.
This first visit from UTHM’s representative marks a pivotal step toward deepening the partnership between the two universities. It reflects UIB’s continuous efforts to broaden its international collaborations and provide students and lecturers with greater access to global learning and research opportunities.
