Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) encouraged students to explore international opportunities through the UIB International Program Seminar 2026, held as part of the International Program Seminar and Alumni Sharing Session 2026. The event took place online via Zoom on 3 October 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. WIB.
More than 230 participants joined the session, with many coming from the first-semester student community. The UIB international program Seminar 2026 provided about international programs while giving students the opportunity to hear directly from peers with firsthand international experience.
Exploring UIB International Programs Through Student Experiences
The session was hosted by Duke Paopathon Pardede, representing the International Relations Office (IRO) UIB. He opened the event by introducing several international programs currently available to UIB students.
The presentation highlighted opportunities that allow students to gain academic, professional, and cross-cultural experiences through international mobility. Students were also introduced to different pathways that can help them gain experience beyond the campus environment.
The information session was followed by a Q&A and sharing session featuring five UIB students who had participated in different international programs. Each speaker shared personal experiences from their respective programs and destinations.
Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical insights directly from students who had experienced international mobility themselves. This peer-to-peer session gave students a closer look at what it is like to study and participate in programs abroad.
The five speakers represented different international programs and destinations. Rayvinn Phang, a Law Studies student, shared his experience as a Student Exchange participant at the National University of Kaohsiung (NUK), Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Zulaekha Preshanda, a Management student, shared her early experience in the 3+2 International Program at Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), Taiwan.
The session also featured Shelomitha Diah Revi Ayuni, an Information Systems students and Winny Angelina Liangdra as Management students, both who are participating in the 3+2 program at MCUT.
Having already entered their second year of the program, Shelomitha and Winny shared deeper insights into their academic and personal experiences in Taiwan. Nasya Amelia Putri, an English Language Education student, also shared her experience participating in the Global Camp at Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Negeri Sembilan (UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan), Malaysia.

First-Hand Stories Beyond a Regular Seminar
The speakers actively engaged with the participants throughout the sharing session. Shelomitha and Winny, as second-year 3+2 students at MCUT, shared personal experiences from their academic journey in Taiwan.
Their stories provided practical perspectives on studying abroad and adapting to a different academic and cultural environment. For prospective international program participants, these experiences offered a realistic picture of the opportunities and challenges that may arise during the program.
Meanwhile, Zulaekha shared her first impressions after spending around one month at MCUT. She also actively documents her daily activities through a day in my life content, giving others a glimpse into her experience as an international student.
She explained that studying across fields presented some challenges, particularly as a student taking a cross-disciplinary academic pathway. However, Zulaekha also highlighted the support she received from lecturers at MCUT.
She shared how the lecturers were willing to explain academic materials and provide support throughout her adjustment process. Her experience showed that adapting to a new academic environment can be challenging, but support from the host institution can make the transition more manageable.
Rayvinn also shared his experience as an exchange student at NUK. He talked about staying active during his exchange period and making time to explore Taiwan with his friends.
In fact, he joined the seminar through Zoom while he was on his way to the beach with his friends, giving participants a spontaneous glimpse into his life as an exchange student.
Nasya then shared her experience participating in the Global Camp at UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. She explained the activities and interactions she experienced during the program, including opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds.
Although the program was relatively short, she described it as a meaningful international experience.
UIB Encourages Students to Take Global Opportunities
Participants showed strong interest throughout the session, with several questions raised during the discussion. The attendance of more than 230 participants also reflected students’ interest in learning about international mobility opportunities.
More importantly, the personal stories shared by the five speakers offered practical perspectives that students may not gain from a conventional seminar.
The sharing session also demonstrated the value of peer-to-peer learning in preparing students for international programs. Through authentic stories, participants could learn about academic adaptation, daily life abroad, cultural experiences, and the challenges that may arise during an international program.
These insights can help students better understand what to expect before deciding to participate in an international program.
Through the International Program Seminar and Alumni Sharing Session 2026, UIB continues to encourage students to explore international opportunities and broaden their global perspectives.
The experiences shared by the speakers are expected to inspire more students to take part in international mobility programs and prepare themselves for new academic and cultural environments.
