Strengths and Interpretation of the Academic Vision of the Biology Undergraduate Program
Strengths: The academic vision of the Biology Undergraduate Program centers on expertise in “Tropical One Health,” which integrates human, animal, plant, and environmental health within the context of tropical and island ecosystems. This strength is reinforced by advancements in molecular biology, the exploration of biodiversity and bioactive compounds, ecosystem conservation, the utilization of local knowledge from the Riau Islands, as well as interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
- Competent graduates indicate that the educational process is focused on the mastery of knowledge, laboratory and field skills, analytical abilities, scientific ethics, communication, and the measurable application of biological concepts.
- “One Health Tropis” refers to an integrated and collaborative approach to understanding and addressing the interconnections between human, animal, plant, and environmental health in tropical regions, including infectious diseases, biodiversity, environmental change, biosecurity, and the use of biological resources.
- Health resilience refers to the ability of graduates to contribute to the prevention, detection, response, and development of biology-based solutions to health threats through research, biotechnology, molecular science, and evidence-based approaches.
- Ecosystem sustainability refers to the responsible use and management of biodiversity by maintaining ecological functions, supporting conservation, and generating innovations that benefit current and future generations.
