History of UIB

Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) was founded in 2000 based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 160 / D / O / 2000. UIB is a private university managed by the Yayasan Marga Tionghoa Indonesia (YMTI) as a form of concern for education for the people of Indonesia. Batam and surrounding areas.
Universitas Internasional Batam was initially located in the Engku Putri, Batam Center area, as a place for lecture activities. In 2003, Universitas Internasional Batam had a campus located on Jalan Gajah Mada, Baloi – Sei Ladi, Batam. So far, UIB’s development is divided into several stages. The first stage is infrastructure development, and the second stage is increasing capacity. UIB’s capacity development has been carried out since 2007 in the Five-Year Strategic Plan was also separated into various stages. UIB’s capacity development began with strengthening UIB governance in 2007-2011. Then, in 2010-2013, UIB starts to develop efficiency and relevance. In 2012-2016 UIB’s development was directed at achieving international quality in accordance with UIB’s vision and mission.
In 2019, UIB, as an institution, achieved B Accreditation and was included in the top 5% of the Best Universities in Indonesia. At the same time, UIB won first place as the best private university by LLDIKTI (Lembaga Layanan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta) of Region X. UIB is also included in the Leading cluster for performance and community service.
Currently, UIB has 5 faculties and 11 study programs that have been accredited by the National Higher Education Accreditation Board (BAN-PT). UIB has 6 study programs that are accredited A, 4 study programs that are accredited B, 1 study program that is accredited “Good” and 1 new study program that is still in the accreditation process. Through international programs, UIB has also succeeded in establishing collaboration with 32 leading universities in Southeast Asia and Asia.
Based on the history of this development, UIB has developed dynamically externally and internally in the last 20 years. UIB shows progressive growth to become one of the best private universities which implements the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to improve Indonesian human resources who have human, academic, morality and independence values to compete globally.
The dynamics of UIB’s internal and external development in the last ten years have continued to experience progressive growth to become one of the best private universities in carrying out the role of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to improve Indonesia’s human resources which have human, academic, morality and independence values that can compete globally.
