Batam, 29 Oktober 2025 – Faculty of Education, Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB), officially signed a symbolic partnership agreement with Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Kepulauan Riau during the National BIPA Seminar 2025 themed “Merayakan Keberagaman dengan Bahasa Indonesia, Mengindonesiakan Dunia”, held in commemoration of Bulan Bahasa Indonesia. The ceremony took place at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, UIB.
This collaboration marks a new milestone in strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and government agencies in promoting the Indonesian language at both national and international levels. The signing was represented by Dr. Titik Wijanarti, S.S., M.A., Head of Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, and Dr. Pandu Prasodjo, S.Pd., M.Pd., Dean of the Faculty of Education, UIB.
The partnership was initiated through the Industrial Translator Internship Program (Kerja Praktek) of the English Language Education Study Program (PBI), which involved Rizky Putra (2261003), a PBI student who completed his internship at Kantor Bahasa during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year (March–July 2025). During his internship, Rizky was actively engaged in document translation assignments, assisting in administrative and publication-related language work, and participating as a committee member in several institutional programs, including activities such as Pemilihan Duta Bahasa Provinsi Kepulauan Riau and other language promotion events.
Throughout the internship, Rizky was supervised by Hendra Nugraha, S.S., M.Hum. from UIB and mentored by Raja Rachmawati, S.Pd. from Kantor Bahasa. Both supervisors provided ongoing academic and professional guidance to ensure the student’s learning outcomes were well-integrated with real-world applications in translation, documentation, and public language service.
This collaboration is expected to foster future opportunities in research, teaching practice, and BIPA development initiatives, paving the way for continued partnership between the Faculty of Education and Kantor Bahasa.
In his remarks, Dr. Pandu Prasodjo, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed his optimism toward the collaboration, stating, “This partnership symbolizes our shared commitment to bridging academic knowledge with real-world language practice, nurturing students who are not only competent in English education but also aware of the cultural and linguistic richness of Indonesia.”
The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a photo session, symbolizing the beginning of a long-term collaboration between both institutions.
As a conclusion, this partnership reaffirms UIB’s continuous effort to integrate industry exposure and professional collaboration into its curriculum, ensuring that English Education students gain both pedagogical and intercultural competence to thrive in their academic and professional endeavors.
