UIB and USIM Strengthen Student Services Collaboration Through Benchmarking Visit

Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) welcomed a delegation from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) for a Benchmarking Visit on Student Services Management on Friday, August 14, 2026. The activity took place from 09.30 to 11.30 WIB at the Grand Center, Building A, Universitas Internasional Batam.

The visit provided an opportunity for UIB and USIM to exchange knowledge and experiences. Both institutions discussed student services, especially Student Health Services, Student Counselling Services, and Student Welfare Services. The activity also aimed to strengthen institutional relations and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

UIB and USIM Exchange Student Services Practices

Representatives from several academic and administrative units at UIB joined the benchmarking session. They came from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health and Sciences, Undergraduate Nutrition Program, Undergraduate Biology Program, International Relations Office (IRO), and Student Development Bureau.

Their participation brought different perspectives to the discussion. The representatives shared their experiences in supporting students’ academic needs, health, personal development, and welfare. The session also highlighted the importance of collaboration between university units to provide effective student services.

Faculty of Medicine Opens the Discussion

The session began with an introduction to the UIB Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Wira Mondana, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A, Subsp. Kardio, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, delivered the presentation.

Dr. Aries Maulana, Sp.PA, Head of the Medicine Study Program, then led a discussion on potential collaboration between UIB and USIM. The discussion highlighted opportunities for cooperation in health services and academic engagement.

UIB also involved representatives from several other units. They included Khoirul Anwar, S.Si., M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Health and Sciences; Miftahul Jannah, S.Gz., M.Gz., Head of the Undergraduate Nutrition Program; and Ramadani Fitra, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Undergraduate Biology Program.

The International Relations Office was represented by Ria Karina, Ph.D., Head of the International Relations Office, and Theodesia Lady Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Hum., International Cooperation Coordinator. Putra Sabar Hotman Sihombing, S.Kom., M.M., Head of the Student Development Bureau, also joined the session.

Together, these representatives contributed perspectives on healthcare, student development, academic support, international engagement, and student welfare.

USIM Delegation Shares Professional and Student Perspectives

The USIM delegation included representatives from the University Health Centre and student support services. The delegation consisted of medical officers, counselors, nurses, dental staff, and students.

The medical officers were Dr. Nik Mohd Shafikudin Md Taujuddin and Dr. Nurnazarina Mahrif. Fadhilah Othman and Tuan Mohd Ameer Tuan Ismail joined as counselors.

Jamaah Mohd, Shamimey Mazlan, and Rosniza Mohamad Nor participated as nurses. Siti Rahayu Mohamad Isa joined as a dental nurse, while Rohana Ibrahim participated as a dental assistant. The delegation also included students Aina Najihah Amir Hamzah and Aimi Nadhirah Amir Hamzah.

Their participation added both professional and student perspectives to the discussion on health and student support services.

Discussion Focuses on Student Health and Welfare

During the benchmarking session, UIB and USIM exchanged information about student health, counselling, and welfare services. Each institution shared its approach to supporting students.

The discussion also explored how professional and administrative units can work together to meet student needs. Participants identified practices that may support the continuous improvement of student services.

The open discussion created a positive environment for mutual learning. It also encouraged further communication between representatives from UIB and USIM.

USIM Delegation Visits UIB Faculty of Medicine

After the benchmarking session, the USIM delegation visited the Faculty of Medicine at UIB. During the tour, the delegation explored the faculty’s facilities and laboratories.

The visit allowed the delegation to see UIB’s academic and practical learning environment directly. It also provided a closer look at the facilities that support medical education at UIB.

In addition, the tour created opportunities for informal interaction and continued knowledge exchange between UIB and USIM representatives.

Strengthening International Collaboration

The benchmarking session and facility tour created a valuable experience for both institutions. The discussion focused on student services management and institutional practices. Meanwhile, the facility tour introduced the USIM delegation to UIB’s medical education environment.

Both activities strengthened connections among academic, healthcare, student development, and international relations representatives. These connections can support continued communication and future collaborative initiatives.

The Benchmarking Visit on Student Services Management between USIM and UIB provided a meaningful platform for knowledge sharing. Both universities exchanged perspectives on student health, counselling, and welfare services.

The visit also introduced USIM representatives to UIB’s Faculty of Medicine, laboratories, and learning environment. Through this engagement, UIB and USIM strengthened their commitment to mutual learning, institutional development, and international collaboration.
