Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) strengthened its international research network by participating in the FACT International Research Writing Bootcamp (IRWB) 2026. The program took place from 1–3 September 2026 at Tamu Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Carrying the theme “Advancing High-Impact Research Through Strategic Collaboration,” the bootcamp brought together academics and researchers from several universities. The program aimed to improve research writing skills while creating new opportunities for international academic collaboration.
The Audit Forensic and Criminology Cluster (AFC) and Pejabat Penyelidikan dan Jaringan Industri (PPII), Faculty of Accountancy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Puncak Alam Campus, organized the three-day program.
18 UIB Academics Join International Research Program
A total of 18 academics from UIB’s Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) participated in the FACT IRWB 2026. The delegation represented various academic fields and leadership positions within the university.
Participants included UIB Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Meiliana, Dean of FBM Dr. Dewi Khornida Marheni, and Prof. Dr. Oda Ignatius Besar Hariyanto. Several heads of study programs, lecturers, and representatives from UIB’s International Relations Office also joined the program.
Their participation reflected UIB’s commitment to developing a stronger research culture. Moreover, the program gave UIB academics opportunities to exchange ideas, expand professional networks, and identify potential international research partners.
Developing High-Impact Research through Collaboration
Throughout the bootcamp, participants joined activities related to research development, academic writing, and collaborative publication.
The program highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in producing high-impact research. Researchers could share knowledge, research experience, and institutional resources to strengthen their academic work.
UIB also joined collaborative discussions with UiTM, BINUS University, and Universitas Buddhi Dharma (UBD). These discussions allowed researchers to explore shared research interests and develop potential joint projects.
One of the main goals was to encourage research outputs that could target Scopus-indexed journals. Therefore, the bootcamp did not only improve individual writing skills. It also helped build a foundation for long-term research partnerships between institutions.
UIB Lecturer Receives Best Submission Q1 Recognition
UIB also recorded an achievement during the program. Fahmi Muhammad Rizky, Head of the Tourism Program at UIB, received the Best Submission (Q1) recognition at FACT IRWB 2026.
The award highlighted the quality of research produced by UIB academics. It also demonstrated their ability to develop research ideas that meet international publication standards.
This achievement is expected to motivate more UIB researchers to pursue high-quality publications and international research opportunities.
Expanding Cooperation with UiTM
After the bootcamp, representatives from UIB and Universitas Buddhi Dharma visited Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The visit continued discussions on potential institutional cooperation.
The universities explored opportunities in research collaboration and future academic activities. Direct discussions also helped strengthen communication between UIB, UBD, and UiTM.
Through these initiatives, UIB aims to transform international academic exchanges into sustainable partnerships that create meaningful academic and social impact.
