On Tuesday, 30 June 2026, Architecture students from the 2024 and 2025 cohorts of Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB), accompanied by two faculty members, continued the Architecture Study Tour to Malaysia 2026 by visiting Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor Branch, Puncak Alam Campus. The visit was organized as part of the International Synergy Summit: The UIB × UiTM Architecture Research Design Exchange 2026, which served as a platform for knowledge sharing, academic exchange, and strengthening institutional collaboration between the two universities.

(Presentation by Stivani Ayuning Suwarlan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.)

The event began with an opening session followed by the Guest Lecture Series, featuring lecturers from Universitas Internasional Batam and Universiti Teknologi MARA. During this session, Stivani Ayuning Suwarlan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. delivered a presentation entitled “DPSIR Framework for Climate Resilience in Coastal Settlement”. The presentation discussed the application of the Driver–Pressure–State–Impact–Response (DPSIR) framework as an approach to enhancing the resilience of coastal settlements against climate change.

(Presentation by Lathifa Nursyamsu, S.Ars., M.Ars.)

Next, Lathifa Nursyamsu, S.Ars., M.Ars. presented a lecture entitled “Historic Urban Landscape of Tanjung Pinang: Dynamics of Cultural Heritage Preservation in Pulau Penyengat through Municipal and Community Engagement”. The presentation explored the dynamics of cultural heritage preservation in the historic area of Pulau Penyengat through collaboration between local government and the community.

(Presentation by UiTM Lecturer Dr. Mohamed Ikhwan Nasir Mohamed Anuar)

Representing UiTM, Dr. Mohamed Ikhwan Nasir Mohamed Anuar delivered a presentation on the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and design. He also introduced various opportunities for applying AI technology in the development of architectural knowledge and practice.

(Interactive Question and Answer Session)

Following the presentations, the program continued with an interactive question and answer session. Participants from both universities actively exchanged ideas and raised questions related to the topics discussed, including coastal resilience, historic urban conservation, and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in architecture and education. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident through the active participation of five questioners, consisting of two UiTM lecturers, two UIB students, and one UiTM student.

(Responses from the Speakers)

After all questions had been presented, each speaker provided comprehensive responses based on their respective expertise and presentation topics. The questions were addressed with detailed explanations supported by practical examples and implementation experiences, enabling participants to gain a broader understanding of the issues discussed. The session took place in a communicative and conducive atmosphere, fostering two-way interaction between speakers and participants. Through this discussion, lecturers and students from both universities had the opportunity to exchange perspectives, deepen their academic insights, and build scholarly networks that may serve as a foundation for future academic collaboration.

(UiTM Campus Tour)

After the guest lecture session concluded, participants joined a campus tour to gain a closer understanding of UiTM’s academic environment and learning facilities. During the tour, UIB Architecture students visited the Landscape Architecture Studio, observed studio facilities and student workspaces, and viewed various projects and design works exhibited as part of UiTM’s educational process.

(Student Colloquium)

The program then continued with the Student Colloquium, a session featuring presentations of student projects and research from both universities. The colloquium began with presentations by UiTM students, followed by UIB students Ariel Hutapea and Merlisa, who presented their works before lecturers and students from both institutions. The next presentation was delivered by Salsabilla Mutiara Yusni and Fauziah Eriza, who shared their research findings and design projects. The presentation session concluded with another presentation by UiTM students, creating an interactive forum that allowed all participants to exchange ideas, receive feedback, and broaden their academic perspectives.

(Group Photo Session)

As the closing activity, lecturers and students from Universitas Internasional Batam and Universiti Teknologi MARA gathered for a group photo session as a form of documentation and a symbol of the strong relationship established between the two institutions. This activity is expected to become an important first step toward strengthening international collaboration through academic exchanges, joint research initiatives, and various cooperative programs in the future.
