Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) students expanded their international experience by joining Union Camp 2026 in Shah Alam, Malaysia. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) organized the program from 24 to 28 August 2026.
Carrying the theme “Unity in Diversity: Empowering Future Asian Leaders,” the five-day program brought university students together through cultural exchange, leadership activities, innovation, and international networking.
Through the program, UIB students interacted with participants from different academic and cultural backgrounds. They also developed teamwork, communication, adaptability, and cross-cultural understanding in an international environment.
Seven UIB Students Join Union Camp 2026
UIB sent seven students from three study programs to participate in Union Camp 2026.
The Law Studies Program was represented by Aisya Putri Saqina Syuhada and Alexsyia Marchellah. Meanwhile, the Management Program sent Angelina Ng, Stefanie Olivia, Gaprelia Monisa Purba, and Angelica Eiffeline Meygalsa.
Zairin Dhea Shazwani Binti Azwar represented the English Language Education Program.
The diverse academic backgrounds of the delegation reflected the inclusive spirit of the international program. Throughout the camp, the students joined activities with participants from other institutions while representing UIB and Indonesia.
Building International Networks and Friendships
International networking became an important part of Union Camp 2026. Students joined group activities, discussions, networking sessions, and cultural programs.
These activities encouraged participants to exchange ideas and learn from one another. UIB students also gained opportunities to meet new friends and understand different perspectives.
The multicultural environment encouraged students to communicate with people from various backgrounds. As a result, they strengthened their confidence, adaptability, and interpersonal skills.
Beyond formal activities, the friendships developed during the program also became a valuable part of their international experience.
UIB Students Introduce Indonesian Culture
Cultural exchange became another highlight of Union Camp 2026. Participants introduced elements of their own cultures while learning about traditions from other countries.
During the program, UIB students presented an Indonesian cultural performance to the international participants.
Through this performance, they introduced Indonesian culture using traditional artistic expression. The activity also demonstrated how cultural diversity can create stronger connections between students.
By sharing cultural traditions, participants learned to appreciate differences while discovering common values among one another.

Developing Leadership and Innovation Skills
Union Camp 2026 also featured activities related to leadership, innovation, and student development.
Participants joined workshops, collaborative activities, discussions, and networking sessions. These activities encouraged students to communicate effectively and work as a team.
The program also challenged students to explore new ideas in an international setting. Therefore, the experience complemented their academic learning beyond the classroom.
Students had to collaborate, adapt to different situations, and actively contribute throughout the program.
A Meaningful International Experience
For the UIB delegation, meeting students from different universities became one of the most valuable experiences during the program.
Zairin Dhea Shazwani Binti Azwar from the English Language Education Program expressed her appreciation for the experience and UiTM’s hospitality.
“Through this program, we found a lot of new friends and new experiences that we enjoy so much. And we are very thankful to UiTM for welcoming us very warmly.”
Her experience showed that Union Camp 2026 provided more than cultural and academic activities. The program also created meaningful friendships and encouraged students to develop broader perspectives.
UIB Encourages Students to Explore Global Opportunities
The five-day program combined learning, cultural exchange, networking, leadership, and friendship in an international environment.
UIB students not only learned from participants from different countries but also introduced Indonesian culture to the global community. Furthermore, they strengthened skills in communication, collaboration, cultural awareness, and leadership.
Their participation reflected the spirit of Unity in Diversity promoted throughout Union Camp 2026.
International programs such as Union Camp also support UIB‘s commitment to providing students with opportunities to learn beyond national borders. Through these experiences, students can become more confident, globally minded, and prepared to contribute in multicultural environments.
