Students from Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) joined Union Camp 2026: Unity in Diversity: Empowering Future Asian Leaders in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The international program took place from 24 to 28 August 2026.
Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) organized the five-day program. It brought university students together through cultural exchange, international networking, leadership activities, and collaborative learning.
Through Union Camp 2026, UIB students gained international experience while representing their university and Indonesia. They also interacted with students from different academic and cultural backgrounds.
Seven UIB Students Join Union Camp 2026
UIB sent seven students from three study programs to the international program.
The delegation included Aisya Putri Saqina Syuhada and Alexsyia Marchellah from the Law Studies Program. Four Management students also joined the program: Angelina Ng, Stefanie Olivia, Gaprelia Monisa Purba, and Angelica Eiffeline Meygalsa.
Meanwhile, Zairin Dhea Shazwani Binti Azwar represented the English Language Education Program.
Their different academic backgrounds created more opportunities for interdisciplinary interaction. During the camp, the students learned outside their usual fields while meeting participants from other institutions.
Building International Friendships
Networking became an important part of Union Camp 2026. Participants joined discussions, group activities, and cultural exchange sessions.
These activities encouraged students to communicate and work with people from different backgrounds. UIB students exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and developed new international friendships.
The multicultural environment also helped participants improve their communication and adaptability. They learned how to understand different perspectives while working together toward common goals.
As a result, the program offered more than formal academic activities. It also created meaningful personal connections among students.
UIB Students Introduce Indonesian Culture
Cultural exchange became another highlight of the program. Each participant had opportunities to share cultural traditions and learn about other countries.
The UIB delegation introduced Indonesian culture through a cultural performance. Their presentation highlighted Indonesia’s artistic traditions while celebrating the diversity of the participants.
This activity showed how cultural differences can create stronger connections. Students learned to appreciate traditions while sharing their own identities with an international audience.
The experience also strengthened UIB students’ confidence as representatives of Indonesia.

Developing Leadership and Communication Skills
Union Camp 2026 also included activities related to leadership, innovation, and student development.
Participants joined workshops, discussions, networking sessions, and collaborative activities. These programs encouraged them to improve teamwork and communication skills.
Students also explored new ideas in an international environment. Instead of learning only inside classrooms, they faced situations that required active participation and collaboration.
Therefore, the program supported both academic and personal development. It also encouraged students to become more confident when working in diverse environments.
A Memorable International Experience
For UIB participants, meeting students from different universities became one of the most valuable experiences.
Zairin Dhea Shazwani Binti Azwar from the English Language Education Program shared her appreciation for the program and UiTM’s hospitality.
“Through this program, we found a lot of new friends and new experiences that we enjoy so much. And we are very thankful to UiTM for welcoming us very warmly.”
Her experience reflects the spirit of Union Camp 2026. The program connected academic learning, cultural exchange, friendship, and international networking.
During the five-day program, UIB students learned from other participants while introducing Indonesian culture. They also developed communication, collaboration, and cultural awareness.
UIB Encourages Students to Explore Global Opportunities
Participation in Union Camp 2026 gave UIB students another opportunity to engage directly with the international community.
International programs can help students improve leadership skills, expand their perspectives, and build global networks. These experiences can also prepare them to communicate and collaborate in multicultural environments.
Through programs such as Union Camp, UIB continues to create opportunities for students to learn, connect, and grow globally.
